Dato’ Dr Kamal Jit Singh
Executive Director
MBCS (UK), MACS (Aust.), MCIM (UK), MIEEE (USA), MMIM (Malaysia)
Dubbed “Dr Innovation” by industry leaders, Dato' Dr Kamal is an ardent advocate of thinking skills, a Doctorate in Strategic Management and the founder of GIRC.
Not only was he the pioneering spearhead who encouraged British Telecoms to set up an Asian Research Centre in Malaysia, he then went on to be their CEO for eight years. He was approached by the Malaysian government to consult on the development of the Multimedia Super Corridor and is a regular columnist for “The Edge” where he promotes innovation and thinking skills as core competencies for Malaysian SMEs. Dato' Dr Kamal is regularly invited to speak at international industry events and sits on numerous government and industry advisory boards and panels.
In recognition of his talents and achievements the Prime Minister of Malaysia has appointed Dato’ Dr Kamal to the Board of Directors for the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)
Dato' Dr Kamal believes that the thinking skills required for innovation can be learnt and he has spent years evaluating and modifying the various tools available to create a host of customised training programmes such as “Science of Innovation”, “Critical Mind Skills”, “DNA of Innovation” and many more.

Dr. Taufiq Thiagi
Principle
Dr. Taufiq Thiagi has been a primary healthcare physician for over 32 years, and in 2002, he obtained a MBA degree having majored in e-Commerce.
While still in practice he was also the head of the Q-medic group for 24 years, involved in Clinical, Trading, Training and Management Services. His key achievements were to spearhead the upgrading of ambulance services, reducing critical emergency response times and the training of First Responder teams in various Government linked agencies. More than 8,000 personnel were trained through the Q Medic Academy. From the late 90’s, Dr. Thiagi’s passion grew in the area of Organisational Transformation Strategies, being enabled by IT, to basically address Small and Medium Enterprises. He led a team of consultants to Assess, Analyse and Assist (AAA) more than 100 SME’s for technology and innovation. He constantly highlighted deficiencies in the system in newspaper articles on Innovation for wealth creation and how to stay competitive.
His experience with the private and public sectors for 3 decades has contributed to his work at GIRC.
Dr. Thiagi is involved in social service for the indigenous communities and has also sat on the Tan Sri Manickavasagam Scholarship Fund Board since 1981. His current pastime activities include political analysis, ikebana and the occasional round of golf.

Mervyn E. Nathan
Principal
As an expert in business development and innovation Mervyn brings a considerable amount of knowledge not only to GIRC, but also to MnM Tech Services, a consultancy he founded to address IT innovation and business development.

K.C. Ghee
Principal
Ghee has spent more than 15 years involved in the Malaysian content industry. Beginning as a journalist in English dailies, The Star and The Sun in the early 90’s, he then migrated to the electronic medium when he become the news editor for NTV7 news during it start-up years. During this spell, he acquired knowledge in not only the fundamentals of news storytelling but the technical aspects of broadcast and content creation.
After spending more than a decade in the journalism industry, he embarked on a career in strategic communication, with stints in several advisory organizations. In 2004, he joined the Multimedia Development Corporation as part of the Creative Multimedia Cluster division.
As the main government arm responsible for developing the local content creation industry, MDEC provided a strong platform for him to expand his knowledge on content creation. As a key member of the Policy and Communication Department, he helped provide the impetus for several initiatives that led to the development of national content policies.
As a individual who has spend most of his life in the content creation, Ghee views himself as someone who has been fortunate enough to learn about the various intricacies and nuances of the content industry, be it mobile, broadcast, print or web based.
As a principle of GIRC, Ghee is a strong believer in the philosophy that innovation, precision and fundamentals are the cornerstones of success.

Harmender Singh
Programme & Training Director
After graduating from the University of Liverpool Harmender initially trained as a Lawyer. However he soon found that nurturing people to be critical thinkers and innovators was more fulfilling than sitting in court all day.
Prior to joining GIRC Harmender was also at British Telecoms Malaysia where he was involved in running an “Innovation Thinking Skills and Critical Thinking Strategy” programme for over 400 SMEs in conjunction with MITI. Harmender discovered his love for educating while he was still studying; in conjunction with preparing for his CLP exams Harmender also spent time lecturing for the University of Liverpool Alumni.
Having gained his MBA and now at GIRC Harmender designs, conducts and oversees a variety of workshops and courses for participants from a diverse range of business backgrounds. He is also the resident IP expert and is regularly in demand for his professional advice.
Harmender's dream is to create an innovative culture within communities to improve and further develop businesses that have a healthy financial output.

Laili Baharuddin
Senior Manager
Laili is the glue that holds GIRC together. Her role as Senior Manager sees her building close working relationships with government officials and SMEs to enhance the visibility of GIRC's capabilities and opportunities.
Laili has been involved in the education and technology industries ever since she graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia. In addition to obtaining her MBA Laili also coordinated Masters and Doctorate programmes at a number of educational institutes throughout Malaysia.
In 2006 Laili moved to BT Malaysia as a Senior Researcher where she was engaged in the roll-out of various telecommunications prototypes. It was in this role that she became involved with innovation and entrepreneurship programmes for SMEs.
Having been a key figure in the implementation of innovation programmes with BT Malaysia it was a natural progression for Laili to follow Dato' Dr Kamal to GIRC and bring along her wealth of experience.
It is widely known that Laili makes the creamiest Nes-Lo in the Klang Valley.

Having worked with a range of large MNCs and small start-up companies Hiong possesses an array of experience in a wide variety of different industries and sectors, thus providing him with a broad knowledge base from which to draw from and build upon.
Calling upon his experiences with organisations such as Volkswagen UK, PwC Malaysia and the NHS in the UK, Hiong’s strengths are those often forgotten soft or transferrable skills making adaptable to every situation and challenge that he comes across.

On the weekends Hiong can be found either running around on the football field or rising before sunrise to enjoy an outdoor expedition.

Rashpall Kaur Dhillon
Business IT Consultant
Rashpall leads all of the system and software elements of our projects. From research and design to creation and testing, Rashpall will guide teams from concept to implementation. Her biggest achievement has been the delivery of custom back-end systems to more than 200 Malaysian SMEs to help automate their processes and boost their productivity.
Before joining GIRC Rashpall honed her skills and upgraded her experience at BASF where she worked closely with international counterparts to generate regional reports, implemented a Quality Management System, and implemented and achieved both ISO and SOX certification for the Human Resources Department.
Already holding a first class honours degree in Business Information Technology from the University of Staffordshire, UK, and Rashpall continued her professional development by gaining expert certifications in an assortment of software and skills programmes.
Rashpall once won the title of “Miss Elegance” at the Miss Malaysian Indian Pageant.

Competency in five languages makes Jasbir GIRC's resident linguist. Since joining GIRC in 2008 Jasbir has been busy designing websites and portals for over 200 companies in conjunction with one of our projects to enhance the marketability of Malaysian SMEs.
Prior to joining GIRC Jasbir spent 7 years at SAE Institute Malaysia in the dual role of Marketing Executive and Programme Counsellor. Working in this dual role has provided Jasbir with fantastic organisational skills; if something needs to be done then Jasbir is the lady to make sure it happens.
Not content with sitting on her laurels Jasbir has again taken on a duel role here at GIRC. Along with her web design work she volunteered to lead one of our video production projects, again highlighting her ability to effectively manage a hectic workload.
Jasbir is affectionately known within the office as Dolly.

Technical Consultant
Mr Harper's experience writing and producing both training courses and marketing programmes for institutes and organisations spanning three continents makes him a formidable asset to the GIRC team.
Having lived in the US, Europe, the Middle East and now South East Asia, Mr Harper has proven that his cross-cultural and communication skills are second to none. He has employed his technical writing skills globally at a number of educational establishments as well as working as a freelance consultant for variety of companies spanning a range of industries.
Now at GIRC Mr Harper is involved with conducting extensive market research and producing technical guides to accompany the projects and training alongside his role as a project manager.
Mr Harper is fluent in not only English, his mother tongue, but also both French and Farsi (Persian).

Veni joined GIRC fresh from completing her Masters of Science but has quickly cemented her place as a core member of the team.

Her easy-going manner and keenness to develop will ensure that Veni will continue to flourish and improve her worth here at GIRC.
During her time studying for her Master Veni gained valuable work experience by undertaking industrial placements at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board and working as a Research Assistant to the Professors at Universiti Sains Malaysia. It was during this time that Veni honed her analytical skills and enhanced her team working and communication skills that are of primary importance in the working environment.
While still studying, Veni had a paper published in the “Journal of Hazardous Materials”.
